In its third year, this event celebrates the history of Mathews County and will take place in Mathews’ historic courthouse square. There will be a variety of educational activities and booths for the whole family. The Fairfield Foundation will be there to showcase our public archaeology initiatives in the county, and will be hosting a public excavation.
This is a rare opportunity to try your hand at both archaeology and masonry preservation. AiP participants, known as jammers, will have a full week of activities, including instruction in excavation techniques, historic bricklaying techniques, and cutting edge 3-D technology.
