Fairfield Virtual History Marathon
Tickets
Oct 1 @ 12:00 am – Oct 31 @ 11:45 pm
The weather is getting cooler, and to celebrate, we have the perfect new outdoor fun-raiser to share with you! Join us for the first Fairfield Virtual History Marathon!
Register for the virtual marathon for just $25 and you’ll be able to “race” throughout Gloucester, visiting 11 different historic sites on your route (including sites in Main Street’s Historic District, as well as Werowocomoco, Rosewell, Fairfield, and more!). Just log your activity (running, hiking, walking, biking, swimming, gardening, you name it) from anywhere you are (using the Racery app for Android or iPhone, or using racery.com), and watch your avatar progress along the virtual route! You have from October 1 through October 31 to run the 26.2 mile route (or run the route multiple times if you’re a super motivated ultra-marathoner)!
Proceeds from the race will contribute to the development of outdoor educational outreach programming at Fairfield Archaeology Park in 2021.
Prizes will be announced throughout the race!

Don’t hesitate to contact anna@fairfieldfoundation.org with questions.
We used Racery to organize our virtual race. They’ve got lots of virtual race options for charities.

Oct 4 @ 9:00 am – Oct 8 @ 5:00 pm

Adventures in Preservation (AiP) workshop at Timberneck Farm – October 3-9, 2021
You can be among the first to help conserve the c. 1800 Timberneck farmhouse, where exhibits will feature the history of the property and the enduring stories of Virginia’s tribes. Learn traditional masonry and carpentry skills as you further the goals of the new Machicomoco State Park.

You also have the opportunity to learn hands-on archaeology skills at the nearby Fairfield plantation.

Come enjoy the best of both sites! A fee is required for all workshop participants. Register at https://adventuresinpreservation.rezgo.com/details/218157/preservation-archaeology-the-best-of-both.
