CAPE artifact wash days are returning and open to the public! In an extension of our popular volunteer lab nights, we will now host a variety of artifact wash days at the CAPE. Any volunteers are welcome; you may email fairfield@fairfieldfoundation.org to express interest, but registration is not required. Come visit our lab and try your hand at archaeological lab work, helping process artifacts from a variety of sites across the Middle Peninsula.
Timberneck House in Machicomoco State Park will be open for tours from 10-2 on April 23 for Garden Week. Visit the park and stop by to see the restoration progress at the c. 1793 Timberneck House!
Walter Reed Birthplace will be open for tours between 10 am – 2 pm on Saturday, April 23, for Garden Week. Stop by for tours of the birthplace and to learn more about Dr. Walter Reed!

This event celebrates the history of Mathews County and will take place in Mathews’ historic courthouse square. There will be a variety of educational activities and booths for the whole family. We’ll be hosting a public excavation at Tompkins Cottage, so stop by to see what we’re finding!
