Archaeology Birthday Bash at Walter Reed Birthplace

September 14 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

We will celebrate the 173rd birthday of Dr. Walter Reed by hosting a one-day archaeological “summer camp!” We will have a test unit open for kids of all ages to help us dig! Additional activities include a brick-building activity, a historical interpretation of medical tools Walter Reed may have used, and an exploration inside his tiny birthplace in Belroi! We will be sending out a scavenger hunt in the next couple of weeks that you can do ahead of time and submit on the big day for prizes!

Center for Archaeology, Preservation and Education (CAPE)

Opening Hours:

Grounds are always open to the public to view the building exterior and signage. The CAPE is open for tours on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at other times by appointment. Lab nights at the CAPE are on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6-9pm.
