Fairfield Archaeology Park will be open for site tours on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, from March through October. Visit the site to learn about the families that lived and worked here, the 20+ years of archaeology that has occurred at the site, and walk the nature trail.
What animals lived, worked, and roamed through Revolutionary-era Virginia? This Dig Day explores the role of animals on farms and in surrounding forests 250 years ago. Participants will take part in excavations near the future parking area at Timberneck (in Machicomoco State Park), contributing to ongoing research that supports the site’s restoration and preservation.
Teaching your children about history and want to give them a hands-on lesson? Join us at Fairfield Archaeology Park, where your children can learn about historical brick masonry and enjoy other educational activities! Bring some lunch and spend a day outdoors!
